February 2017 enewsletter
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING:
This will take place a week on Tuesday (28th February) at 8pm at 105 Cambridge Road, Stansted.
Many thanks to those of you who have already sent your apologies. As we shall be providing wine and nibbles, we would quite like to know roughly how many people will be attending. Please could you just drop me a quick e-mail to let me know – that would be much appreciated!
Winter measures:
Please continue to observe winter measures in the clubhouse, even though the weather is a little warmer now!
LTA opting in:
A big thank you to the 117 members who “opted in” for this year’s Wimbledon ballot (just 2 short of last year’s number). You will be eligible to enter our own STC ballot. We shall hear from the LTA in mid March exactly what our ticket allocation is – so fingers crossed!
Social Tournament:
14 players took part in this rearranged social doubles tournament on Friday 3rd February. Congratulations to the winners, Diane Brown and Fiona Pye, who beat Lisa King and Caroline Mott 6-2 in the final. The consolation draw was won by Debbie Lane and Tudor Owen. A bring and share lunch was enjoyed by the players afterwards and £30 was donated to Cancer Research.
Ladies’ Night:
The next Ladies’ Night will be on Monday 13th March starting at 7pm. All ladies welcome!
Mix ’n’ Match 2016/17:
Most Round 3 matches have now been played and draws are now up for the final round, which should be completed by the end of March.
Boyd Trophy:
The list is now up in the clubhouse for this ladies only doubles tournament, which will take place on Friday 17th March, starting promptly at 9am. There are only 3 spaces left, so don’t delay, sign up as speedily as possible. The entry fee will be £5, plus a contribution to a bring and share lunch.
Coaching:
At this time of year, it is always good to try and pinpoint the coaching needs of members. So, if you are an adult or junior member who is not currently receiving coaching at the Club (or on a waiting list), but would be interested, please contact me and I can start to compile a list. (No promises at this stage)!
Used tennis balls:
Don’t forget that you can purchase a tube of 4 used tennis balls for £1. Please call in to see Jan at 105 Cambridge Road.
