President’s Cup
Eight ladies and eight men took part in the President’s Cup tournament last Saturday. The first round was Ladies’ and Men’s doubles, followed by the knockout Mixed Doubles section. Daphne Lunnon and Rick Lim won the trophy, defeating Jon Budd and Fiona Pye 6-1 in the final.
The consolation draw winners were Richard Portway and Sue Simpson.
A sit down fish and chip takeaway from Churchill’s was enjoyed by the players late into the evening.

Upcoming tournaments

Club Tournament
You have until May 31st to enter this year’s tournament. The sign up sheets are on the Clubhouse noticeboard.
For doubles events, if you don’t have a partner and are keen to play, just add your name and put “partner wanted”.

Bristow Junior Doubles tournament
1.30 for 2pm start on Sunday 14th June. £5 per player entry fee, plus tea contribution. If you are 15 or under and would like to play, please email me.

Adult/child Tournament
Sunday 28th June, 1.30 for 2pm start.

Club Sessions
There were a record 21 players at tonight’s Adult Club Session!
It will be very busy in the next few weeks with the build up to Wimbledon.
If you attend any Open Club session, if you are the ninth person to arrive, please get the peg board set up. So as to avoid long waits for those waiting, when there are 12 or more players, can I suggest the 2nd deuce sudden death rule (receiver chooses). Hopefully this will work!

Court cleaning
Thank you to everyone for your patience last Thursday and Friday, while the courts were being deep cleaned. Once again apologies to all of you who were affected by cancellation of your sessions.
I’m sure that those of you who have been up to play since, will have noticed how clean they are. It was still to wet for the courts to be chemically treated on Friday. This will be done very early one morning when it is dry and there is no wind. Play will mot be affected!
Many thanks to Jan Hollis for co-ordinating this very complex procedure!

Friends of the Committee
We are still looking for “Friends of the Committee” volunteers. Please contact me if you would like to be added to the list.

Cardio Sessions
If any member would like to be added to the waiting list for the next block of sessions with Ollie, please email me.
Classes are either Monday morning or Thursday afternoon.

Ladders
The Junior, Men’s and Ladies’ Singles Ladders are now up and running. It’s not too late to join in though. Please contact me if you are keen.

Hospital Cup
The draws for the first round are now up. If you are involved, please ensure you have contacted your opponents and arranged your matches.

Wimbledon Ballot
Congratulations to all 19 members who were successful in the STC Wimbledon ballot. A list of all winners is on display on the Clubhouse noticeboard.
Winners please note that the named winner of the pair of tickets MUST be one of the people going.

Ladies’ Night
The next Ladies’ Night will be on Monday 8th June from 7pm. Please come along and join in with this popular session.

King’s Arms Quiz
We only have three quizzers for the next quiz to be held on Tuesday 26th May at 8pm. Please email me if you would like to join in.
