Stansted Tennis Club

March 2014 enewsletter

A very busy time this month with lots of dates to note, so here goes!

Firstly, a reminder that STC subscriptions are now due for the 2014/2015 season. Thanks to those of you who have already rejoined. If you would like to take advantage of the one month free discount, your completed membership form, together with your payment needs to be sent to Sarah Hollis by 31st March at the latest.

Mixed Mixed Tournament
There are only 2 more places on the sign up poster in the Clubhouse for this new experimental knock-out tournament. As soon as we have 16 entrants, the draw will take place and the tournament can get underway.

Gail Hogg’s Friday Tournament
This will take place at 9.30am on Friday 4th April. Please sign up on the poster in the Clubhouse if you would like to play.

Stansted Litter Pick
Just a reminder that the village litter pick will take place next Saturday, 22nd March, meeting at 10am at Crafton Green. Please support this event if you can spare an hour or two.

Working party
This will take place between 2pm and 4pm on Saturday 5th April. Again, if you are able to spare some time, we would love to see you at the Club.

Next Ladies’ Night
This will take place from 7pm on Monday 14th April. All ladies welcome!

Cayless Chilli Tournament
This popular tournament will take place at 9.30am on Sunday 27th April. The sign up form will appear in the next couple of weeks.

London Marathon
John Crosby has requested that Stansted Tennis Club members support him in running this year’s London Marathon. He will be running to raise money for the Lymphoma Association in memory of his father Richard, who was a much loved member of the Club for many years. Proceeds from Gail’s tournament will be forwarded as well as a donation from the Club. For anybody wishing to send a personal donation, please do so by clicking on:

Repairs
Jon Brown has mended the upright netting post in the corner of the court and will in the near future be repairing parts of the outer netting. He will also be making and installing a new outside noticeboard.

Winter measures
Don’t be fooled by the glorious sunshine we are currently enjoying! Please ensure that the water supply is turned off after each session up until the end of April as overnight frosts are still common. Thank you!
