Stansted Tennis Club

June 2014 enewsletter

Club Tournament 2014:
The draw is now up on the Clubhouse noticeboard for this year’s competition.
Please note that all first round matches need to be arranged and played by 6th July.

Next Committee meeting:
This will be held this Tuesday (24th June) at 8pm at 48 Rochford Road.
Please let a committee member know if you have an issue which you would like raised.

President ‘s Cup:
Unfortunately, the date for this event clashed with England’s opening World Cup match, so we were not able to get enough players. Unfortunately it had to be postponed. A new date will be arranged shortly.

Next Ladies’ Night:
The next session will be from 7pm on Monday 14th July. All ladies are welcome to attend.

Hospital Cup competition:
This year’s Hospital Cup is in full flow. Stansted has entrants in all five disciplines.  So far all Stansted entrants are still in the competition.
The tournament is a charity fundraiser, with all monies raised going to the League of Friends of Saffron Walden Community Hospital, which provides support for the Community Hospital and, in particular, Avocet Ward.
Part of the fundraising is through a raffle.  Raffle prizes are donated by each club. This year, Stansted will be providing a ‘Tour de France’ hamper, in recognition of the event going through our district this year.  So if you have anything cycling related, French or red, white and/or blue, which you could contribute to the hamper, please let me or one of the Committee have it.  There will be a collection box in the cloakroom at the clubhouse.
Any queries, please contact Daphne on 01279 817574 or drlunnon@gmail.com. Thank you for your help!

Wimbledon warning;
Just be aware that over the Wimbledon fortnight, which begins tomorrow, the courts get very busy. If this is the case please be reminded that there is a 20 minute court rotation system.
