Dear members,

A very happy, slightly belated, New Year to all Stansted Tennis Club members.

It has been a frustrating month with not much tennis being played, due to wet and cold weather and also mossy courts. We are pleased to say that the courts were chemically treated last Saturday morning. We now need to wait until next week-end to see if it has destroyed the moss (fingers crossed)!

Due to the poor weather there are no results for Essex Small Clubs over the last month.

Clubhouse Cleaning rota.
Many thanks to those of you who responded to the request for adding your name to the 2013 Clubhouse Cleaning rota. I still have 6 gaps to fill, so please contact me via email if you would be willing to volunteer.

Clubhouse and Courts Working Party
Depending on the weather, the next Working Party for court and clubhouse maintenance is this Sarurday (19th January) at 2.30pm. It would be great to see some new volunteers! If you have sandpaper and/or scrapers, please bring them along. The courts will be closed for a couple of hours from 2.30pm.

Next Committee Meeting – Monday 21st January at 8pm at 48 Rochford Road, Bishop’s Stortford.

Next Ladies’ Night – Monday 11th February at 7.00pm. All ladies are welcome to come along for a game!

Annual General Meeting.
Tuesday 19th February at 8pm at 105 Cambridge Road, Stansted. All members are warmly invited to attend. If there are any issues you would like to raise, please contact a committee member.

British Tennis Membership (LTA)
There has been a fantastic response, so far, for our members to log on to the LTA website and become a British Tennis Member via Stansted Tennis Club. There are a lot of benefits for individuals doing this. One of the main attractions is the offer of Wimbledon tickets via the Club’s ballot, The more members we have, the more tickets we are offered. When I looked today 42 of us have signed up. Let’s try and double that number. It’s quick, easy and free. Just go to www.LTA.org.uk/membership and follow the instructions.
