September 2018…

It’s been a while since the last news update here on the website, but with some luck and a fair wind the site should be updated and refreshed soon.

A lot of Tennis has been played; most recently the Pearce Frodo mixed doubles  tournament won by Rik Lim and Diane Brown.  Earlier in September the annual Club Finals’ Day took place.  Daphne Lunnon summerises…

For those of you who missed Sunday’s summer knockout tournament Finals’ Day, please see the results below. We were lucky with the weather and even luckier with the tennis – some really good matches throughout the day.

Many thanks to those who came along to watch and support. And particularly to those who:

– helped put chairs/benches/blankets out (and packed them away again)

– brought along contributions for the refreshment table – we had a veritable cake-fest

– supplied endless cups of tea and coffee and did a sterling job keeping on top of the washing up.

It was very much appreciated.

Men’s Singles: Ross Armorgie (1) beat Jon Budd (2) – 6-1, 6-0
Ladies’ Singles: Daphne Lunnon beat Lisa King – 0-6, 6-4, 6-3
Men’s Doubles: Phil Berry/Adrian Olver (2) beat Jon Budd/Simon Fox (1) – 5-7, 7-6, 6-4
Ladies’ Doubles: Lisa King/Fiona Pye (1) beat Diane Brown/Daphne Lunnon (2) – 3-6, 6-4, 6-3
Mixed Doubles: Sue Armorgie/Ross Armorgie (2) beat Daphne Lunnon/Martyn Taplin (2) 6-4, 6-1.

Trophies for all events were presented to the winners by Club President, Garth Lane. Garth also presented the Roger Loveday Trophy for most improved player to Lynn Timms.
