Stansted Tennis Club

January 2018 enewsletter

A very happy belated New Year to all STC members!

Don’t forget to have a go at solving the tennis anagram at the end of this newsletter. There will be a prize for the winning entry!

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING:
Please note the date for this year’s AGM is now THURSDAY 22nd FEBRUARY at 8pm at 105 Cambridge Road, Stansted. Please do try to attend as it is an ideal opportunity to find out about what is going on at the Tennis Club, as well as giving you an opportunity of asking questions and airing your views. Debbie Lane has decided to stand down from the committee at the AGM, so there will be a vacancy for a general committee member. If you are interested and keen to make a committed contribution to the Tennis Club and would like to be considered as a committee member, nominations need to have been received by Jon Budd (Honorary Secretary) by Thursday 15th February. If you would like to find out more about what is involved in being a committee member, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me or another committee member.

CLUBSPARK:
If current testing proves successful, we hope to be going live with Clubspark on 1st March. This will mean that all members who need to book a court, will be able to do this via Clubspark online, rater than using the current paper club diary. We shall obviously, be keeping you posted over the next few weeks with the progress of testing. You may even be approached to be a guinea pig! Full instructions on how to use it will be sent out prior to it going live.

MIX “N” MATCH TOURNAMENT:
Hopefully, we shall very soon be back on course with arranging and playing matches. It has been very frustrating over the last month with all the bad weather. Thanks for being patient!

LADIES’ NIGHT:
The next Ladies’ Night will be on Monday 12th February starting at 7pm. All ladies are welcome to attend!

WIMBLEDON BALLOT:
The closing date for “opting in” to the 2018 Wimbledon Ballot is Friday 23rd February. Only 4 members have “opted in” over the last month. That makes 69 out of a total membership of over 200. If you have not yet done so, please visit the LTA website and “opt in” – it only takes a few clicks of the mouse. If you are not already a BTM (British Tennis Member), you will need to register on the LTA website and then “opt in”. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. Don’t forget, if you have not “opted in” you will not be eligible for this year’s STC ballot for Wimbledon tickets. The more members who “opt in”, the more Wimbledon tickets we will be allocated by the LTA.

ESSEX SMALL CLUB LEAGUE RESULTS:
I have not received any results from team captains over the last month.

QUIZ:
AND FINALLY!
Thanks to all of you who responded to last month’s e-newsletter quiz – a record number!. Congratulations to Clare Murfitt who was December’s winner and chose a tube of tennis balls as her prize.
Please have a go at answering the question below and emailing your answer to me within the next 48 hours. There will be a prize for the winner. If there are a lot of correct entries, the winner will be drawn from a hat.
