STC NEWSLETTER – FEBRUARY 2019
The recent snowfalls are a stark reminder that winter is still very much with us. It may be a slower time for tennis, but the list of ‘jobs’ to be done is as lengthy as ever for the STC Committee. The Christmas social on 13 December was well supported by around 40 people and a good time was had by all. It looks as if this may well become a permanent fixture on the STC social calendar!
Winter measures remain in place – please remember to turn off the water, etc if you are the last to leave the club house after a match, coaching or a club session.
The STC AGM will be held on Thursday, 28 February at 8.00 pm at the Quaker Meeting House in Chapel Hill. This is a short but important meeting in the STC calendar and it is hoped that as many members as possible will be able to attend. Separate notices about the AGM will be going out soon via Clubspark, but please put the date in your diary.
JUNIOR COACHING – weekly sessions are now underway with coach Ollie Toms.
TOURNAMENTS & TROPHIES
The Mix ‘n’ Match Tournament is entering its final stages and should be wrapped up by mid-February. Many thanks to Rick Lim for organising the tournament and keeping everyone on track.

PLEASE OPT-IN!! (if you haven’t already done so) to the Wimbledon ballot. The closing date for opting-in is 22 February. It will only take a couple of minutes of your time, but will determine the number of tickets that are allocated to us for Wimbledon this summer. The more members that opt-in, the more tickets we get.
This is free for STC members and it is just a matter of registering as a ‘Lite’ member on the website below:
Once you have British Tennis Membership, you can then ‘opt-in’ to the Wimbledon ballot. The Club draw for Wimbledon tickets will take place on Wednesday, 24 April.
